Website Design Australia

Learn to build websites or get a web design company build it for you.

A website can be a huge leaning curve if you are thinking of building one yourself. Below are some tips on what software to use and problems you may encounter.

Time can be a constraint when learning to build a website, but if you don't want to rely on having your website designer do every little change, it's very rewarding to do it yourself and cost effective.

The software I am using on this website is XsitePro which is a computer driven software and backups are held on your own computer or external hard drive. This has advantages as you have more control over the backup, where as a website built on a server has a chance of being hacked and lost.

You can backup your website on your server, but this tends to be overlooked more often than not.

Another software I use is wordpress, which is a free software and widely used worldwide. This is a server based content management software (CMS ) that is very user friendly and you can find plenty of information on the net to get yourself started.

Try Not To Give Up

XsitePro and Wordpress have forums where you can ask questions to get you started.

One of the first things you need to do is register a domain for your website, once you've done this you can start looking for a hosting company.

A hosting company is where your website files are kept and costs vary from company to company, but I find Hostgator very cost effective.

Once you have a hosting package, you can then point your domain to the name servers provided by the hosting company. You do this by logging into where your domain is being held and you look for name server configuration and update accordingly.

Right now you have the block of land and you need to build something to put on it, this mis where the software I mentioned above is used.

This is the first installment for this website, I'll update it with more information soon. Some of the website built using the software mentioned above are click hereAnother software that is used widely is Joomla, I'm not a big fan of it, but everyone to their own. Example of a website using this software is look here , It's a free to use software as well and a lot of webdesigners use it.
